Amending high school certificate in Türkiye
What is the certificate modification document in Türkiye (equivalence)?
Students wishing to enroll in Turkish universities must submit a set of documents, including a high school equivalency certificate, known in Turkish as "Denklik." This document is necessary to prove that the high school diploma obtained in their country is equivalent to Turkish diplomas. This document can be obtained in two ways:
First: Through the Turkish consulate or embassy in the country where you reside.
Second: Through the Directorate of Education in Istanbul or other Turkish cities.
What documents are required to process the equivalency of high school diplomas for foreigners in Türkiye?
Fill out an electronic form via the Turkish Ministry of Education website via the link: Click here to enter.
After completing the electronic form, the following documents must be prepared and submitted to the Turkish General Directorate of Education. These documents are:
1- The original high school certificate certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country that issued the certificate.
2- A certificate showing grades for the last three academic years, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
3- If the student has completed his education in an international school such as the IG system, he must have his documents authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country in which he studied, and then obtain authentication from the embassy of that country in Turkey.
4- A valid passport photo.
5- Student visa and a copy of it, which can be replaced with a residence card if available.
6- An acceptance letter from the Turkish university you have chosen to study at, obtained from the university’s official website.

Proof of university enrollment must be recent and dated.
If the student is under 18 years of age, they must provide a guardianship contract and a power of attorney from their guardian.

Documents required for high school equivalency for Syrian students in Türkiye:
1- Temporary protection card (Kimlik).
2- The original high school certificate must be submitted if available.
3- Detecting the main approved signs.
4- Translation and notarization of the certificate.
5- An envelope to authenticate the high school diploma from the Syrian National Coalition office in Türkiye.
6- (Passport if available).
7- Residential address (population registry).
The steps to have your degree recognized in Türkiye are as follows:

Important note for Syrian students
Syrian students who obtained their certificates from Syria only must have their high school diploma authenticated by the Temporary Government Education Office in Gaziantep, southern Türkiye, at the following address:
